Dr. Harris is the only physician offering No-Shave FUE in Denver. The technique is so advanced that less than 5% of doctors or clinics that perform FUE offer No-Shave. Approximately 95% of hair transplant patients at the Hair Sciences Center clinic opt for this option
No-Shave FUE offers the possibility of a hair transplant without anyone ever knowing that you had one.
With No-Shave follicular unit extraction (FUE) only the donor follicle hairs that are to be transplanted are trimmed, all other hair remains the same length. The trimmed donor follicles are therefore hidden amidst the remaining full-length hair, and a completely normal appearance of the donor area post-transplant is achieved. Suitable for both men and women, this technique makes both the process and eventual outcome of a hair transplant undetectable.
Suitable for both men and women, approximately 95% of hair transplant patients at the Hair Sciences Center clinic opt for No-Shave FUE.
Until quite recently, a follicular unit extraction (FUE) hair transplant required the patient’s entire head to be shaven to approximately 1/25th of an inch, which amounted to a military buzz cut. This made it
easier for the surgeon to identify the follicular units to be targeted for transplantation, including their direction, texture, curl and diameter.
Now, Dr. James Harris, a leader in hair transplant surgery, has pioneered an innovative No-Shave hair transplant technique that trims only the individual hair follicles to be transplanted. These trimmed hairs are completely hidden when the rest of the surrounding longer hair, no matter its length is combed back into place. Using this technique Dr. Harris has performed individual hair transplant sessions of more than 3,000 grafts.
For many physicians they don’t offer this option at their clinic because it is more labor intensive, time consuming and technically more difficult then shaved FUE.
Many clinics offer No-Shave FUE, but often their technique is quite different. What they mean is that they do not shave the whole head. The hair is lifted, and a band of scalp is shaved. The long hair is then let down which covers the extraction area and the shaved area is not visible when you leave the office. However, this can have an unnatural appearance when blown by wind or when wet, as the shaved band can easily become visible. The other problem is that if someone decides to wear a short hairstyle the bands may be visible as thinning areas of the scalp.
If you are considering a No-Shave FUE, note that your hair should be at least 1.5 to 2 inches long as it makes it easier for the physician to correctly target the grafts for transplantation and hide the harvest sites.
